The Greatest Moments in Rock and Roll History Series #4 – Lynyrd Skynyrd – Live Knebworth UK 1976…[Video]

Just one editorial note The Greatest Moments in Rock and Roll History Series, even though numbered is not in any particular order. I would not try to rank such greatness…they all reach the top. 8]

This is another concert that falls under the category of one of the best rock shows ever recorded. They were opening for the Rolling Stones and really could have headlined their own show but the crowd in the UK may have been smaller…so it goes. Skynyrd was reaching their peak just before the tragic plane crash in 1977 which took the lives of Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray. The rest of the band suffered terrible injuries. May they RIP….your brilliance will never be forgotten.

The problem in getting this set in full, I found the full concert on youtube but the video was terrible and it was out of synch. So I bit the dust and decided to post the full Freebird Compilation. It has all of the knebworth show but it is inter-spliced with short interviews and is spread through the three hour and twenty minute production. It covers the story and a few excellent shows that they performed in excellent quality. Anyway the Knebworth show throughout the video is the concert that has the red stage background. So you can watch the whole thing or skip forward to these bits and see the whole 1 hour and five minute show.

If I find in the future the complete show in one go I will update and post in the future.

Thanks for reading and happy listening. Remember This post continues to evolve!
